So, I just got my EVO. Made the jump from the iPhone and I'm more or less happy I did. Thank god for getting out of Senor Jobs' walled software garden. It's nice to be trusted with such complicated and dangerous tech options like changing a battery myself!
Anyway, I'm looking forward to rooting my phone and installing Froyo. In my brief research I've discovered 2 rooting methods (unrevoked and XDA). Will either of these let me install Froyo? Is there a way for a mildly resourceful user to safely install froyo on and EVO just yet?

Just XDA...

Yes, I'm running FroYo right now.

If you decide you want to try it out (Must be rooted with XDA method and installed recovery image)

1. Download: (Rom) EVOlutionV8-Froyo - xda-developers (everything except camera works for now)

2. Put it on the root of your sd card

3. Reboot into recovery - nandroid backup (as always before flashing anything)

4. Wipe data

5. Choose install .Zip from sd card

6. Flash and reboot
