I just ordered the Seidio charging dock for the EVO for use with both the regular and extended case. Has anyone used the dock to place your phone in and to use as a clock near their bed or nightstand? If so, my next stupid question is did you have to set the screen timeout to "never"?

Actually, that was a poor choice of a title. It probably should have read, "EVO as a clock on your nightstand"? Sorry.

I have a charging dock,, not a sedio, and it also has the spare battery charge slot. If you want the screen to stay on you must do it in settings.

I'm looking at the Seidio dock for the extended case too. With the problems I see some having with the usb port on the EVO, is the dock easy on the port or does it require a bit of extra care when connecting?

Extra care. But once you get the feel for it it gets like second nature.

Or settings, display, screen timeout set to never. I rarely charge on the dock anyway, it was worth the 20 bucks just for the spare battery charger built in.

I just hit the clock app, and then the "moon icon". The time / date stay on screen, despite the screen time settings.

Its simple, tap the clock on ur screen and desk clock will appear. On the desk clock screen go to the bottom tap the the small widget (moon & star) and if ur EVO is charging the screen will automatically stay lit, but dim.

Is there a way to dim this even further? I tried the moon/star icon last night and it lit up the room. Around midnight I had to turn it off. I went into the Display setting and turned off Automatic, turned it all the way down to the lowest setting. That was almost bearable, but lots of steps every night.

Have you guys tried Lightning Bug? Great app with lots of soothing sounds (I use rain showers, summer bugs, and ocean sounds for variety depending on my mood). It also has some pretty fine dimming options.

Just thought it was worth mentioning, since it works great for nightstand use. I use it for travel all the time.
