EVO Frenzy

Here's my question:
Looking through this forum (and others) it seems as EVERYONE is eagerly (to put it mildly) awaiting the EVO. In your opinion, does this represent a lot of real world interest? Or is it just because we are ensconced in a small little android world? It sort of sounds as if every Pre or Blackberry user will be switching and we know that that's not happening, right? So what do you think the truth is?

I think there is some pretty big hype about the EVO 4g and will draw a good amount of users to switch who currently use other devices (BB, Windows Mobile, Iphone, etc..). But I don't think it is on the level of hype a new iPhone gets nor will the demand be that high unless they start market the hell out of this device.

To be honest i'd rather the demand not be too high so there is one for me and not backorders for months out.

Reading over at Crackberry.com, it is obvious some people are going to jump ****. Then there are those that are really tied to their BBs and they won't leave for anything.

Been through this before waiting for the Pre. Online, it seems like everyone else shares your fixation. Real world, haven't even heard of it.

Sites like this are concentrators. Who would come here if they weren't interested in Android? Who's going to post in the Evo subforum except people interested in getting an Evo?

It does seem amazing how many Pre users (myself included) are showing up here. But think for a minute: All the folks who stood in line on Pre launch day on Sprint are coming up on their 1 year anniversary right around Evo launch day. We're early adopters, hungry for a new phone. What does Sprint have in the wings that's new and hot? Evo.

They need to market it like the Droid if they want some real world hype.

Those Droid commercials are the best thing to happen to the Android OS. They REALLY got the (An)Droid name out there.

I am still debating on heading to the Sprint store 2 hours early as I did for the Pre. Or maybe 30 min will be fine...

A rematch would have been nice to break the tie. Also, not having the curse (hossa) on either team would have been a way to see who the real champ for the past 3 years have been.

Starting Wednesday, heavy marketing is said to commence for the EVO. I'm extremely excited for this device.

I'm a blackberry user currently and am eagerly waiting to switch to Android OS. The next generation of blackberry devices will have solid hardware but the software really isn't up to par to Android OS.

I can't wait to switch.
