do i have a software/hardware issue? i did a factory reset this morning and its still acting up.
when i unplug from charger in the morning, i get a fully pixalated screen, then the ring to drag up to unlock is frozen. i had to reset it or abnormal shut down, 6-8 times yesterday and a few times today, even after factory reset. also sometimes get a flickering home screen. but sometimes its all fine.
im thinking my phone is jacked.

time to go to sprint store and get it replaced while still under the 1 year warranty.

My first evo lte got returned for a flickering screen problem. I would return it

Yeah, if you've done a factory reset with no results it's probably something on the hardware side.

SPRINT SUCKS ! took it to the repair center in omaha yesterday. they said since i didnt have T.E.P. protection plan it would cost me $50 to repair. the tech said its probobly a lcd screen problem, or hardware. its only 6 months old, so i said why isnt it covered for a replacement phone ? its under warranty !!!!!! they still said i had to pay $50 to repair it.

i called sprint when i got home, pissed off ! they said the same thing. i was like WTF do i have to PAY $50 for something THATS UNDER WARRANTY?????
needless to say, i got nothing from the phone call except they called HTC for me.

it IS covered under HTCs 1 year warranty, but i have to send it in to them in Houston to get it repaired or replaced.

good thing i kept my OG evo 4g ! im using that now for the next couple weeks !

The warranty isn't from Sprint, it's from HTC. If your Panasonic TV needed repair, would you expect Best Buy to fix it for free just because you bought it there? No, you'd find a Panasonic service center. Same with your phone. Sprint sold it to you, they didn't build it.

HTC will honor the warranty if you contact them.

its being sent to HTC today.
im just saying in the past, i had a ****ty samsung moment, had 4 replaced in 1 year due to hardware issues. sprint just swapped them out with refurbished ones, no big deal. no cost to me. and i didnt have the protection plan.

i work in the furniture industry, and if a sofa was manufactured with a knot in a frame board, and the frame board broke, its a vendor problem, and we fix it, and get our repair time credited from the vendor.
sprint should swap the phone out with a refurb. and send the broken one back to HTC. its all about pleasing the customer, and not causing inconvience to the customer.

since sprint only cares about SALES of phones, NOT service, they dont really give a crap about the phones they sell, if the customer has to be inconvienced by having to send in a phone to HTC and wait weeks to get it returned !

I went through at least 4 evos in under 9 months. I had best buys warranty so it wasn't the worst process but it's still a pain. Hope you have better luck in the future

Sprint discounted the practice of just swapping out phones because they repeatedly got burned because the manufacturers refused to honor warranties because they determined the damage occurred due to something not covered by warranty.

You're comparing a carpentry repair to complete replacement of an electronic device. Not even remotely the same circumstance.

Sprint loses money on the sale of any phone initially. Even when customers buy phones outright carriers still eat part of the cost of it. This is why carriers are so hell bent on branding and locking phones specifically to them.

Yeah it's a pain to have to go through manufacturer's warranty coverage because we're so dependent on our phones. But this is why Sprint offers TEP. Just not for free.

I SEE. im calm now. phone was sent in to HTC yesterday. its all good. i know it will be covered, because it looks new, wasnt dropped, or in water. sprint said its good to go for the htc warranty coverage.
HTC said they have seen this problem, so its covered. now i just have to wait to get it back.

lucky for me i still had my perfect condition old EVO 4g to use for a few weeks ! but man, that phone is bulky and HEAVY compared to the new evo !

Just had my screen replaced last Sunday, same problem. Eight month old Eco 4g lte. I paid the 50 bucks. Don't have a spare phone and can't wait for a week to ship it in.

I wonder if sprint has different policies depending on phone mfg. my daughters SII had a bad connector fixed the same day for free.

shipped it priority mail to them last thursday, its fixed (or replaced) AND BACK TODAY (thursday) not a bad turn around ! HTC is FAST !
