Evo Gone Mad (help me please)

Ok so here is my story.
i originally bought the evo when it first came out (i order it from Amazon)
everything was running fine until yesterday when the phone started to click on apps by it self (when i say click i mean the phone would act like if i was taping on something on the screen without me touching it). so yesterday i took off the zag shield and the random clicking went away. until today, the phone home button opens up navigation app. i have search high and low for a solution but nothing. i also tried downloading another launcher like launcher pro but nothing the home screen takes me to the navigator app.

i have tried turning off the phone and then turning it back on with the volume down button hold down to clear the information nothing
i have taken out the battery and the memory card and still nothing.


can some one please holp me or suggest how can i get this replace?
 
The easiest thing to do in that case (my opinion) is to do a hard reset on your phone. Back up your apps or at least create a new list in Appbrain and back up your data before doing so. If that doesn't fix your issues, I'd be returning it.
 
ok so i did a hard reset and still the same problem.
on the phone with sprint fingers cross.

I've had this happen on other phones with water damage. Might try putting the evo in a sealed container filled with uncooked rice overnight? I have also had this happen on a Pre and remedied it by "smacking" the screen (not kidding).
 
ok so i went to a repair sprint store and the dude did the same thing i was told here hard reset and nothing sprint told me they will replace the phone if its not in back order.............i will try the bowl and rice to see over night.
 
I had the same thing.

Phone never got wet or even damp for that matter.

Ended up having to replace it with a new one. No matter what I did or Sprint repair could do would fix it.

Annoying to the max. Luckily on the new one I got the better screen with blacker blacks. No more purple tint.

so this is the update so far.
1. on Thursday i called sprint but they were close, i send htc an email explaining the situation with everything i have done to try to fix it.
2.on Friday i woke up early and spoke to sprint they did there normal turn off and reset and nothing so they send me to the sprint repair center.
3. in the sprint center the stupid rep told me "oh this is a simple fix, i just fix a evo like 2hr ago with the same problem." hour in hour out all he did was reset it a couple of time and made a phone call and after all that he told me to come in next week hopefully they will have a new phone for me. if not call sprint so they can ship one to your house.
4. i called sprint on Friday night explain the situation and the rep told me that they would send me a new one if its not on back order lol yeah if its not on backed order lol...
5.on Saturday i made it home and i read a post about putting the phone in a bowl of rice. i made up my mind to put my phone in a bowl of rice to see if it was water or humid damping in the phone since the temperature in nyc are in the high 98. so i will take out my phone out of the bowl of uncooked rice on Monday hope it works.
 
so now since i am going to get hopefully a new phone my two brother are also thinking of how will they get sprint to exchange it to have a new phone with the new screen.
 
Do any one know if Sprint will send me a new phone. I currently have the first Bach phone ?
And what is so different between the older model evo vs new model evo?
