Evo Notification Bar issues/problem

Hi guys,

So on my EVO, whenver I get a new message or email, it shows up on the notification bar at the top, which is great.

Then, when I click on the Messages icon or Gmail icon to read the message, the notificication in the bar up top WILL NOT go away. To make it go away, I have to press the "Clear" button.

I'm pretty sure the notification should go away once I read the message, but this isn't happening. It gets annoying b/c after I read the message, it seems as though I have a new message, even though I don't.

Any ideas? (I am using 2.1, not Froyo - I haven't upgraded yet b/c of the reports of decreased battery life).

You're right it should go away. I'm not sure why yours isn't :?

On the gmail app, the notification goes away immediately for me. For the htc client, I have to actually open an email before the notification goes away.

Mine is exactly the same. Email clears, pingchat clears, gtalk clears, they all clear except "messages" (the sms and mms). Anyone have any ideas?
