Was paying my bill today online and noticed that on the Sprint Home page they are listing touting the EVO as the only 4G phone with Android 2.2, it also lists the same on the spec page. So looks like they are shipping with the update now.....could this be the cause for the shortages?

That would awesome. For new Android users not needed to do it because some don't even know to or how to update their phone. My friend never updated her Eris from 1.5 and her phone was lagging like crazy. But I showed her and its working much better now. This is a good idea on Sprint and HTC's part if this true.

The delay is due to the unavailability of the screens. Samsung was making the screens and could not keep up with demand (they make screens for more then HTC, and of course their resources needed to product the Galaxy S line). They are building a new factory for screen production but will not be online until 2011. Subsebquently, HTC has outsourced to Sony to back fill their needs.

Samsung doesn't make the screen for the Evo. Its an Ocular FTCA1004-50

Well Im hearing Sprint is loading it on for people when they buy it now. Im sure sooner or later the handsets will come direct from HTC with it installed.

I will let you know i just had to get a replacement because the one i have is not working properly. should get the new one in a few days.

If an EVO ships with 2.2, can it be reverted to 2.1 by running the 2.1 install package while connected to a PC? Need to root a friends EVO that is shipping when available.
