This worked for me today, but don't kill me if you can't talk the rep into it yourself. Because we recently got the GB update and have been having widespread issues with the battery life, I called customer service and explained the situation. Of course we have no assurances that Google will push a fix in the next month, but what do we have? That's right the bright-shiny new Evo 3D comes out! So I talked to a nice CSR for a couple minutes, explaining that it appears to be a known issue, and I'm aware you have to keep your screen brightness 20% or less, blah blah about optimizing battery life....but she then put me on with her supervisor.

We talked a little about the issue, and that I'm having my device in red by around 12:30-1pm after being fully charged at 7:30 when I get out of my car at work. Obviously this is a basic thing that I'm paying quite a bit of money for and not being able to use for the second part of the day. I said, maybe there'll be a fix pushed out by Google, but if a month passes and there's still no fix, I don't want to continue to pay for something that is no longer functioning the way it was when I purchased it and signed into a 2 year contract. Could we push up my upgrade date to the end of June.....he agreed but indicated he would have to send a confirmation email and follow up with me at the end of the month (say the 27th) to see if I am still having the issues. If so, and no fix is announced, I'll get my upgrade pushed up and can purchase the Evo 3D before I was scheduled to be able to upgrade.

Hope others that are excited for the new device but locked in can take advantage of this method, as obviously with a well-known problem with an OS update can end up being handled by the carrier.
