My HTC EVO 4G is updated with Froyo and the latest Sprint software update.

I'm trying to use my IOGear GBE201 bluetooth headset so that I can use the phone handsfree -- to talk on the EVO phone without holding it.
I've followed the procedure in the headset's manual https://docs.google.com/viewer?url=http://www.iogear.com/support/manual/GBE201%20manual.pdf on page 12.

The EVO successfully detects the headset and pairs with it. The bluetooth settings screen says it's "Paired but not connected"
I've tried power cycling the phone and headset, unpairing and repairing.

How can I complete the connection to the headset?

Thanks

The headset is paired but probably isn't turned on. Go to page 6 of the manual and follow the instructions for turning on the headset. Then it should connect.

Thanks for the ideas.

The headset is on. Its LED blinks and I can press the button to hear a tone.

Long clicking on the pairing only gives me the option to unpair, not connect.

I'm still stuck.

I tried removing the battery from the EVO and rebooting but there was no change.

The Bluetooth settings on the EVO still say the headset is "Paired but not connected". It says this no matter whether the headset is on or off. It never changes.

Once it says paired but not connected under bluetooth devices in settings double click on the headset description in bluetooth devices to connect. Example: On my EVO in Wireless settings bluetooth devices it says Blueant T1 if I double tap it gives me the option to toggle the connection.

Later,
Dave

Thanks, Dave. I just retried.

When I tap the headset's device name on my EVO, it turns green briefly. When double-tap, it turns green twice. (My Evo doesn't use double-tap anywhere).

When I long-tap (hold), it gives a pop-up that has only one choice: "Unpair".

I've tried Unpairing and re-Pairing several times.

It never gives me a "Connect" option.

I've had it happen where I turn on the bluetooth on the phone and then turn on my paired headset too soon (like within 15 seconds) and it won't connect.

Either wait a few more seconds (it mostly works) or go to settings, wireless & networks, bluetooth settings and tap on the bluetooth device in the list of paired devices you want to connect.

Often times, tho, turning the headset off, leaving bluetooth on the phone ON, and just turning the headset back on pairs it.

Same issue here trying to pair with my pc. ( headphones it paired fine)

Thank. I tried leaving the phone on and then turning the headset on.

They are paired but not connected.

Should be the other way around, actually, at least with my headset.

Turn the headset on, wait a few seconds, THEN turn the phone's BT on.

This happened to me a lot before 2.2. Complete pairing/connecting worked after a hard reset, but only for a few days. But even after Froyo, a hard reset helped the problem.

HMMMmmm! I'll have to see if that works. Hadn't thought to reverse it.

EDIT: it works, but still after about 10-15 seconds after I turn on the headset, then phone. Odd.

I was having the same problem with my Droid X and my Motorola Endeavor HX1 and finally pressed the menu button and then the area at the bottom of the screen where it has the blue tooth device name and "paired but not connected" that place on the screen lit up and the device became connected. I am not sure if pressing the menu key was part of the necessary sequence but could not reproduce the situation. Glad to be connected!

Hope that helps!;)

I am having the same issue with my Blueant. I have been turning B'tooth off and on and it connects. However, it does unconnect after a short period of time.
