EVO Screen Outdoors

I have been using the EVO for a few weeks and like it a lot. One issue is that the screen is difficult to see outdoors in direct sunlight. I was trying to use the camera the other day and basically could not see anything on the screen at all. I have the brightness set to auto but have also tried it on max. This is my first touchscreen after several years with Blackberry and Palm Treos. Is this just the way touch screens are or am I missing a setting some place?

Just the way most touch screens phones are..... Heck my Samsung LED TV if the windows are open and the sun is shining directly on to the TV makes it hard to see.... Nothing you can really do about it in really bright light...

Put your body between your phone and the sun and look at it

Is your phone on the brightest setting? If it's not, try that.. it makes it at least readable

I figured this was a touchscreen thing but it took me by surprise after using BB which are very good in direct sunlight.

I had the brightness on max the other day and could see almost nothing on the screen while trying to use the camera. I snapped the picture anyway and it turned out pretty good. It would have been better, of course, if I could have seen what I was doing and framed it better.

Yeah, it's the nature of the beast, unfortunately. I was reading that AMOLED and S-AMOLED screens are even worse outdoors, and that is the new upcoming technology. Sounds like things are trending backwards in this area.
