Evo will not complete the system software update check

My phone just sits there with the little wheel spinning saying "checking" it never completes. PLEASE HELP!

HTC support said just give it time. It has been doing every time I try for about a week now. So frustrating!

Make sure your are not on WIFI EVO wont update unless its on the Sprint network.

BUMP This is happening with mine too. Been trying for about two weeks now... It will sit there for hours just searching. Tried it on 3G and 4G. Also tried to update it manually and got an error. (Not sure what the error was but I'll try again later and check)

I just did mine... No problem I'm on Sprint 4g network. As Big D5 have pointed out make sure your not using WiFi.

Had the same problem last month prior to the last update...ended up manually installing the update and then restting my phone afterwards....now the updates are working fine
