Sorry if this was posted somewhere else, I can't seem to find any threads with an answer on this. Every time I connect my evo to my PC it connects then a second later it disconnects. I've had it since launch and never had this problem before. I put the leaked version of Froyo after it was released, it worked perfectly for a couple days no problems, then this just started happening out of nowhere. I'm still on Windows XP.

There was a thread on this yesterday but I didnt find it doing a quick search. The recommendation I got that actually worked was to turn off usb debugging. If you dont have USB debugging turned on the next question is are you running XP? if so go to control panel/system/hardware/device manager and check to see if you have a yellow triangle on any of your USB controllers. You may need to delete and re-install your USB driver for HTC syc.

I reinstalled the drivers and it still wouldn't work. I just ended up doing a nandroid restore then flashing a different froyo rom, and so far so good.

I am having the same problem. it happend while I was using revoked. All the other usb's work fine but the one I was using revoked on. when I connect the phone it will just disconnect a second later. I have uninstalled the usb drivers in device manager. I even went all the way back to stock 2.1. It's the weirdest thing. what els can I do? It's only that one port.

Are there other drivers that I could uninstall that might be conflicting?

The hero works fine on the same usb port by the way.

I connect mine to 4 different computers with 4 different cables. At work it stopped connecting about a month ago (same thing, it connects and disconnects a second or so later). Initially, I blamed it on a new ROM I installed, but it happens with all of them. If I connect it, then exert a little upward pressure on the cable, it will stay connected. For example, if I connect it and then put the edge of the cable on a mint box so that the bottom of the phone is a half inch or so off the desk, it will generally stay connected. No other computer does that, so it has to be the cable. I have tried front, back and hub connections on the work computer with the same results. Bottom line, some cables connect more securely than others.

Thanks RhinoDoc... It's always something simple... I was thinking about all the technological things... how can I debug the USB driver on the phone, etc. and sure enough, a wiggle and some downward pressure on the cable end solved the problem.

Thanks!

Known issues with EVO

I had the same problem with my USB cable connection. The phone finally stopped charging completely, even with propping up the cable just to get a connections.

The solution?
I took it in to the Sprint Store where they informed me that the earliest EVO models have problems with the USB connector not being soldered into the phone completely! So, they replaced it and the new one charges just fine!
