Hey there to all

Question for u guys, is there an app that can read though all of the apps currently installed on the phone that can search for one that maybe causing battery drain? My battery seems to have gone sour lately and I don't know why. Esp today, I unplugged from my charge at 2pm and have done anything major with the device and I'm already below 50% in under 5 hours. I've spent 80% of my time on WiFi at my house. That to me seems unacceptable.

The two gaps there are I had to restart my phone for something and the second time was to clear cache partition. Currently running 5.1. Gonna do a reset to see if that fixes anything, I'd it doesn't I'm gonna try to get moto to replace and replace with a white device haha.

Your cell signal doesn't look great--that could tax the battery. One test would be to turn on Airplane Mode for a whole battery charge cycle and see if things improve. You can still turn on wi-fi after Airplane Mode is turned on.

For the duration of the discharge? Also any ideas on how to possibly increase cell reception? I live in phoenix so it's not like the service is bad here lol. You doing possible think the dbrand skin on the back of the device would be interfering with the radio signal do u?

I've never understood the whole battery statistics thing (1st screen shot) what does it mean when it is green, is that indicating when it's active? the cellular network signal is orange, why is that, does that mean it's working harder?

I am a big fan of Gsam

And Greenify to make sure that background apps are hibernating

But it is your on screen time and brightness that going to dictate battery life I. E. you're not going to get 7 hours with your screen on.

Also when you have to rebuild caches on your phone that takes CPU and that takes battery you need to let your phone run a few days without you screwing with it before its going to settle.

I have my brightness set to auto, and my screen on time is only 2 hours which isn't much. That shouldn't account for the battery draining that much. Should it?

Your battery life looks a little low yes but like you said you've been doing things. I would load the battery monitor and load greenify do your usual things you do with your phone. Open greenify select all the apps that you do not want doing things in the background. then tomorrow look carefully at the battery monitor to see what's burning electricity. but honestly you're going to get four to five hours of on screen time. remembering this is a huge screen on a big phone.

Just factory reset and start fresh.

Its your signal. The higher the db meter, the more power consumption is being used by your device. The signal chip tries to amplify its power.

Solution: get a signal boost or microcell tower in your home. Depending on your carrier and negotiating tactics, you could get one for free. T-Mobile offers free for sure. Att, I had to argue that my home is a brand new home with copper wiring all around blocking the signals from outside.

Green means the signal is good, while yellow and red mean bad and lousy. The worse the signal, the more power the device has to use to latch on.

Not hundred percent sure about that my signal isn't that great here I get more than 12 hours for sure. I would have a lot more left but I've been screwing with converting my Apex Launcher to Nova all morning.

I really dont feel like a signal booster is necessary in the middle of Phoenix. Do any of you think that a new sim card could possibly fix the issue? Ill also check the greenify app and report back.

Signal runs 24/7 so its natural it can have high usage.
Screen is battery hog, it always been.
But what is this ESPN? It uses half of what screen used, and that looks fishy.

Disagree, and today was proof. 4% signal loss and now I can get close to 2 days worth. I also have a T-Mobile signal boost in my house free from them. Yes, its free. Just ask a T-Mobile rep.

Not to mention I live in a newly developed area that doesn't have all the signal towers up.

I have been watching a bunch of Nexus 6 review videos (I know reviews are like door knobs, everyone takes a turn) and the one BIG issue has been battery life. Now don't get wrong I can charge at work, in the car, at home and I carry a battery pack in my bag so, its not "that" big of an issue, until it is. I will be reading up a bit more, the last Nexus I had was (sadly) the Verizon Nexus that Samsung put out, what an abomination and never again on Verizon.

I take it you're not a sports fan. ESPN is a legitimate app.

Ya but look at ur device, there's like no use on it. I'm sure u can get 2 days out of a charge with it just sitting there on the counter. I'm using mine with moderate to light use on WiFi 80% of the time, and I'm still draining power like a leaking bucket. I'm sure some of its signal related, I almost guarantee that there is no such thing as a free booster from Verizon lol.

I live in North Phoenix and have Verizon too. I consistently get about a day and a half of pretty good usage out of my Nexus 6. Exception of the last two days with all these updates. Waiting for the phone to settle down. I think I would recommend you possibly do a fresh factory wipe and start over clean. it's helped me in the past with other phones.

Did you buy this phone to use as a paperweight? You should try actually using it once a week. I can get ten days out of it if I don't turn in the screen and leave it in airplane mode. Probably more.
