Hey Folks,

I got my Droid X yesterday afternoon and loving it. It also seemed to come with great timing as I also got my 2.2 update loaded on my device with no issues late last night.

I didnt have the chance to get my work email set up on my DX yesterday so I'm in work today with a not even day old DX with 2.2 trying to get my corporate email setup so I can view my Calendar etc.

Now I did search for the issues I'm having but it didnt return any great results.

Ive tried the native Corporate Sync, which adds with Success but it fails with a very vanilla error stating "Account Connection Error" when i try to refresh the inbox and no other information. I checked settings and everything is exactly the same as a coworker who has a Droid 2 and his works fine.

So, I figured lets try Touchdown, again no joy! I configure everything, ActiveSync comes back as enabled everything looks good until i try to Sync and I get an error stating theres a connection problem and to contact my admin. Funny thing is I can send email but it doesnt seem to be able to sync with anything on Exchange.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Having the same issues as you, only in my case, Touchdown works flawlessly.

I'd be happy to pay for Touchdown if I could get it to work. I know it's not the Exchange side because other users in my company have Android and Windows Mobile devices working with no problems.

I thought it was just a setting I had wrong at first, but its really not all that complex.

Yes but are you sure your company supports activesync for YOUR email account?

Yup, I just went into our Exchange box and checked to make sure I had ActiveSync Enabled.

I'm in IT and have a Domain Admin login.

Ah then you surely know what is up.

Me too except we are not allowed to do activesync as of yet....don't ask

To recap the same settings exist on your X that others with Android have but yours does not work?

Yes sir. Same settings and when i hit the refresh I get an orange triangle error thats not very descriptive. Weird thing is I can send mail, says it fails but still comes into another inbox.

I just got my X today, it syncs with the native software and I have other users who have used RoadSync and Touchdown. They all seem to work but my users have all found them or their phones unreliable compared to BES or Windows Phones.

I was about to try one of them to get tasks but see neither has notes. It's stupid that this phone doesn't have better sync and same for these third party conduits. I give the phone credit for fast browser and big screen but it is rapidly looking like a toy if my Blackberry was a tool.

Active sync has been flawless for me - using Touchdown. To the OP: if the Droid 2s are syncing with your server, there's no reason the X with Touchdown shouldn't - it's basically the same software. We use Exch. 2010 as well and so far, the our Android-based phone users have been happy.

As for reliability, I trust ActiveSync over BES/BIS from my own experience dealing with them in the field. For security though, Blackberry is still the one to beat......for now.

Neither of myself or main associate are having any activesync problems with original Droids, 2, X with the Exchange servers being 2003 - 2010 and SBS. My problem is the cheap and stupid software load from Motorola and the two third party products I have found are as bad with no notes sync. This is not a problem for everybody but I am among the users who use notes.

All of our Doid problems have been client side with calendar not working well earlier and all of these things not having tasks and notes.

I will try to give it time with only one day of my own Droid ownership but so far I am wondering why I did this for any reason beyond knowing the platform to better support my users.

:)
