exchange s10?

What can the s10 do over pixel?

I would really recommend going to a physical store such as Best Buy if possible and hold and play around with both devices. I was dead set on getting the S10E over the 3A as I thought it was a better bang for my buck but there's just something about the build of the S10E I didn't like once I held it in person. Additionally, after years of using stock android I couldn't stand the bloat that Samsung phones have but some people are willing to live with it.

I held the Pixel 3A and it too felt different in the hand to me than what I anticipated. I didn't quite like that it was a bit larger than the Pixel 3. I also kept comparing the screen to the regular Pixel 3 and I could tell the difference but again it wasn't a deal breaker considering the price difference.

All this to say, you know the specs of each phone, but actually holding it adds a different experience that could turn you off to one phone and help in your decision making.

Regarding price, as a tip, you could buy a used iPhone SE for around $80-$100 and then trade it in at Google Play store for $250 reducing the price on either the 3A or 3 model. A lot of people seem to be doing this tactic to bring down the price and save a few hundred dollars.

Also, keep in mind in a few months the new Pixel 4 will be released so you might just want to hold off on your purchase and stick to your current phone rather than spending on something you're not in love with now to regret it later. I've chosen to wait for the 4 myself and if I don't like it then by that time I'll be able to get the 3 at a reduced price.

Hope this helps.

EDIT: I just simulated a trade in and it seems Google has stopped being generous. The trade in amounts have lowered significantly. Oh well.

Thanks for the post, wish I could hold off, but need phone. Guess it is down to 3a or 3a xl
Like 3a xl for battery, but 3a for size.

I choose the 3a xl and so far is is a really nice phone. I have 14 days, so will still look into the pixel 3 for 599.
For me much better than S10.

I say no. The s10 is a premium device, the pixel 3a is a mid range phone albeit with a great camera. But its not head and shoulders better IMO. S10 still give you a lot more features IMO.

If you are not a heavy user and don't use lots of apps/features then Pixel 3a series is great. It's simple, has most of the features, great software with updates, great camera and economical.

Honestly I'm enjoying the smaller 3a a lot granted I have it for just a day ... And I have pretty much used every flagship including 3 XL, S10 series, OP7 etc. They all are better phones obviously but 3a series is great and sufficient for majority of people IMO. Honestly the only thing I personally miss is the wireless charging otherwise it kind of have most things.

Battery life on the P3 is a joke. Battery life on the 3a is very good comparatively speaking.

I ended up getting the pixel 3 for 499 through Verizon. so far it has been great

I've finally found something that I REALLY miss from my S10+. Bixby Routines. I was using 2. One that would turn my media volume up to 100% and keep my phone unlocked when connected to my vehicle Bluetooth. The other would turn on auto-rotate when the YouTube app was open. Those were really helpful.

I hate bloatware, but I bought my S10 direct from Samsung. The only bloatware is their versions of things...I happen to like their email client for my work email. I don't use bixby, but I appreciate the button being there. bxRoutines is your friend and will allow you to do some crazy single, double, and other various click patterns to launch different apps based on locked phone vs unlocked phone.

I have the 3a for fun. Traded in a cracked iPhone 6s for $220. I switched over to the 3a as my primary for a day and had to go back to my S10. I rely heavily on wireless charging in my house, so a Pixel 3 would have been a better fit than the 3a, but it wasn't so cheap with trade-ins and store credits.

Things I love about my Samsung S10:
- Pushing audio to 2 bluetooth devices at same time
- Samsung pay...no special card reader necessary
- The Bixby button remapped via bxActions
- Split screen features are still better than normal android
- App pairings for split screen to launch to apps at once as a pair in split screen mode
- Headphone jack
- Super Steady video camera mode...so smooth
- Wide angle photos/videos
- Super slow-mo video (2-3 times better than most)
- Heart rate/blood pressure reader built-in
- Dolby Atmos and loud speakers
- Tends to have features that are due out in next versions of android
- Wifi sharing...have your phone get on wifi somewhere and allow others onto that network through your phone...this is not hotspot...it allows you to share a paid for wifi access with other devices...like on a plane
- Memory card slot (400 GB card sitting in there)
- Wireless charging
- Wireless power sharing (put my watch/ear buds on phone to charge)
- Bixby routines (puts phone on silent automatically when at our church)
- Fingerprint reader on the front...helps when docked
- The share panel! It is amazing and blows away even the share panel on android Q
- Gesture based navigation is better than even android Q

What I love about the Pixel 3a:
- Price
- Camera takes amazing pictures
- Call screening feature
- Regular and fast updates
- Headphone jack
- Pure android with no bloat

Well dang. I didn't realize how much I truly loved my S10 and why until I typed this out. I don't run samsung's launcher. I run Nova to maximize widgets to the border and provide a much better overall feeling.

The wireless charging really hurt the 3a for me. For someone needing a phone and not having a ton of money, the 3a is a good choice. Updates for years...
