Watch out everyone the S7 Edge also has battery issues, not just the note 7!

Over the last few months I’ve noticed a decline in battery life on my S7 Edge, and from time to time it would be a bit warm, but I’ve always kept it in an Otterbox so didn’t think much of it. However, I took it out of the case to switch sim cards and noticed my back of my phone had separated from the front around the corner.

Turns out the battery had exploded, and as I’ve had the phone for one year and four months it is out of warranty and Samsung told me to go get it fixed myself, they couldn’t care less.

Attached are some pictures of the battery, as I asked a shop to replace it for me.
Anyone with a S7 Edge watch out - their batteries suck as well and my blow up on you and Samsung doesn’t care.

It's not just a Samsung issue, it can happen to any device. iPhones have caught fire for years, and I've personally seen a couple Motorola phones where the screen was being pushed off the front by a bulged battery, one of them was a Droid Maxx.

Thanks for sharing the images.

Your battery EXPANDED, it did not explode.

Lithium Batteries do this overtime.

Mods please change the title to expanded.

It expanded, it did not explode. His phone did not catch fire.

Battery Expansion is a major Side Effect with Lithium Batteries, some do it, some don't, really depends on the battery.

My Nokia N80's battery expanded back in 2006, had to replace it.

I've even had batteries expand in two Apple laptops. It happens all the time with anything battery operated.

That is definitely not an explosion. Like the others have said, lithium-ion batteries have been known to expand over time.

Expanding lithium batteries are an on-going issue with Dell XPS laptops, too. As others have said, this is a broad problem.

Well there were burn marks on the inside of the phone where the battery sits, hence exploding.

I don't know if you can still call that exploding.

I had a MacBook battery expand inside the computer. I took the plastic case apart and I could see the individual cells were puffy and filled with gas. just for fun, I took a pin and punctured one of the puffy cells and immediately a flame came out of it. It wasn't an explosion, just the gaseous chemicals mixed with air caught fire just for a second as they leaked out. That sounds like what may have happened to your phone. The individual cell expanded so much that it couldn't hold anymore of that battery gas and it leaked out and burned up.

Yes. Mine is still in the case but Samsung doesn't seem to think they have a problem.

Let me know if you can think of a solution
