My gf did the same thing to mine... it was replaced with a refurbished unit for 100. works just as well as a new TB.

I cracked my screen early in the morning. I contacted Asurion and had a replacement unit the next day. The only way I could tell it was a refurbished unit was it was labeled as such. Unfortunately it would not reliably hold a 4G connection in areas where my first unit was rock solid steady. Asurion had me take it to my local Verizon store. They tried a different SIM, but it still wouldn't hold 4G, even in the store. Asurion sent me a second replacement which has worked flawlessly for months. I'd have no hesitation making another claim if necessary.

Asurion has been great for me. Cracked the screen on my TB about 7 months ago, got a refurbed unit the next day. The refurb unit started acting up a couple of weeks ago, screen was not working in one spot. Asurion phones have a one year warranty, so got a BRAND NEW unit shipped the following day, which has been flawless.

Now if only the ICS would come...

I replaced my TBolt with a refurb one from Asurion It worked great for a week, then it wouldn't hold a 4G signal and the GPS wouldn't lock on to my phone....2 miles away. So, I called Asurion and walked through all the steps (it was rooted, but I UNROOTED it before contacting them). After 30 mins. the rep said they would send me another phone. I asked if they had a brand new NEVER been used one (seeing the TBolt is over a year old, they should have them). She looked and confirmed they did. THey sent me a 100%, brand new, never been used in the TBolt black box phone. I took it to Verizon to have them activate it...even though I could have done it...but, if it didn't work, then I can point fingers at Verizon and not what I did.

1 week with it so far and it is working great.....4G is still an issue at times, but I think that is a nationwide issue and not my phone.

Take away from this: If you are going to get an Asurion phone...ask for a Brand new one.

I am on my 2nd Tbolt because the first one refused to hold a 4G signal. I worked with Verizon and the rep confirmed that this is a known issue with some of the Tbolt hardware, they sent a refurbished to me and it's been working great so far.

I got an Asurion replacement which randomly rebooted a bunch...called back, tried their troubleshooting, and they ended up sending me a brand new unit as the replacement of the replacement. Seems to be working like a charm. Overall the original refurb wasn't bad...there were a few minor annoyances (VERY loud when vibrating), but would've held onto it if it wasn't for the rebooting.

So, with that said, good experience overall. $100 is pretty steep, but better than full price, for sure.

My experience is similar to those above, first phone, a refurbished unit came next day, it seemed fine except for a stuck power button. I called asurion that evening and explained the problem, the next day had a brand new unit in my hands which has been flawless since I got it. I have no problems with asurion at all.

I have an extended warranty so no out of pocket cost for my replacement which comes from Verizon. wish new but refurb. most of the time they are even better due to all the tests run on them. they fail the first go around and are fixed to perfection lol

couple weeks ago I got my standard warranty replacement because part of my screen was no longer accepting touch (no physical damage). The refurbished replacement has been working fine, and I think the radios are actually stronger/more stable than my original. even though it's refurbished, I can't tell and am pretty happy with it.

that's what happened to me. left side went all stupid and no longer respond. looks like it was not drop damage after all but just going bad. but vzw 'scared' me into asurion. but happy w/ the replacement.

My 4G flashes on and off, and my USB port is crap. :/

Also, when i even lightly touch the screen it warps the LCD.

I was going to send it back, but they said if they found any hardware damage with the USB port they would charge me $300 :(. The guy I talked to said they'd only get on me if it's falling out or sunk in, but I'm not taking a $300 chance.
