I love this epic, but the battery life makes me miserable. I feel like I can never enjoy my phone because I am always worried about it draining so quickly.

When the extended life batteries start coming out from third party producers, would you guys recommend using them? How much extra life do the extended life batteries usually give?

Larger the extended battery, the grater battery life it provides

I'm due for an upgrade and am torn between the EVO and the Epic. The main reason I lean AGAINST the Epic is because it's a Samsung phone. The phone I have now, the Moment, is also a Samsung, and 2 years after its release, there are still no aftermarket extended batteries for it. I'm very nervous the same will be true for this Samsung product as well. On the other hand, the EVO already has extended aftermarket batteries available.

To try to answer your question though, a 3500 mah battery on my old blackberry would last me pert near three days, even playing music, surfing and the like. It's well worth the investment.

Well do what I did, I bought the spare battery charger and I ctually like it now, I can use my phon freely! Then right when it gets to 5% and flashing its already been used for about 7 to 9hours depending on what I did ad I pop in the other one and boom back full and it starts up in about 23sec so boot time great jus switch out battery

on a simlar note, to the dual batteries, has anyone had experience with the cheap ebay batteries...are they worth it as a backup, or is the OEM worth the extra $$$

I'm also wondering what batteries to go for. There is a deal on EBAY but it seems skechy.

Bipolar, what battery/charger did you buy? Can you link us to it?

The ebay battery works great. For $10 you get 2 extra battery with an external charger.. Can't go wrong.

Thanks for the reply! I will go ahead and try it. For 10 bucks, why not... unless it exploded in my phone. haha

as a data point I purchased a supposed oem g7 from ebay
" NEW G7 BATTERY + CHARGER FOR SAMSUNG i9000 Galaxy SNEW G7 BATTERY + CHARGER FOR SAMSUNG i9000 Galaxy S"

a) it is not a G7 but a counterfeit g7 label
b) battier reports "battery not connected" when charger is attached and status bar battery bar blinks red and green, even though it is charged.
c) seller "transcendershop" in hong kong will do clothing but insist I sell it back, whcih is obviously not cost effective.

I also bought two from a US based seller. these have very tiny font "for" before the word Samsung (not outright counterfeit like the hong kong, but desinged to appear in ebay pictures as real deal when they are not. They are marked 1500 mA but test to 1200 ma.

i too bought the 2 batteries from ebay but have yet to use them...both are fully charged tho, my question is will the batteries discharge even tho i havent used them yet and how long will they remain charged prior to me using them???

I bout a spare batter 1200 ma, and its good to have cause I'm not gonna lie I use my phone for just about everything, so the battery problem is more me than the phone itself, but I wanna get an extended battery too, just to avoide the hassle, but I'm skeptical, are they really a good investment?

They can be a good investment if you don't mind the extra bulk it might create. I have 2 spare batteries for use. Car charger and spare battery charger. Along with extra usb chargers. This works well for me.
