Extensive Guide on Overclocking?

Does anyone know where i can find an extensive guide on properly overclocking and underclocking, my friend just rooted his Evo and wants to get overclocking but wants to know how to do it properly (he does not trust my judgment lol)...

I don't know if there's a guide, really just get SetCPU and go from there if he's rooted stock.
