External Battery (Nook Color)

Figured I would share some info on external chargers for the NC. I purchased the CLEARMAX CM-500 5000mAh External Battery pack off of Amazon for $29.99+shipping and it works like a champ. The discharge rate of the device is about 600mA so it's sloooow and will not register the little battery lightening bolt but does charge the unit at about the same rate as a standard usb port. If you travel a lot, or are going to be away from a plug for an extended period of time, like flying to Japan from Atlanta, or just happen to get stranded in an airport for a half a day, it gives you some handy options. The battery easily charges the NC from 0 to 100% with enough juice remaining to charge my iPhone 0 to hero along with charging my bluetooth headset. So, if you are concerned, give this a look, it's a good solution for me!

I've got a 3000mAh Digipower. Same outupt, same price, less storage.

So far so good, it's a really good solutions for me. Lightweight (about as much as and iPhone), highly adaptable (charges most any usb powered device), and capable (5000mAh is a lot of juice). So far I love it.

Just got a Nook Color with Nookie installed.
Going to China in a bit (16h flight) and wanted to know if this external battery backup was still performing well.

Also, how big is the charger to charge the battery pack?
Lots of the external packs looks nice, but the charger itself is a huge brick...

The charger on the one listed in the OP is about the size of NC's charger. The battery is about 2/3 the size of larger phone such as a Evo.

Mine recharged my NC from 50% to full. Be sure to turn of the external battery once your device is topped off, or when you are not using the battery. If you do not it will discharge.
