With the Note 5, there was an issue using a headset with a microphone during a phone call. The other person(s) on the call would hear an annoying echo. This seemed to happen with all headsets and was an issue inside the Note 5 (there was a hack where you had to open the phone and put padding between two components to fix it).
The Note 7 doesn't have this problem. I'm able to use an inexpensive set of ear-buds that has a microphone inline and it works fine.
