Hello,

Lately I've been getting some extra icons on the home screen. For example, I got icon called "Starred". I assume that is for starred messages in my email. I didn't install any app to look for starred messages. I don't know why it's there. Also, I have two icons for Maps. I did upgrade Google Maps. Could that be the reason for the extra icon? How do I get rid of these icons?

Hold down on them til the trash can appears at the bottom of the screen, drag them to the trash can and drop them...

Do you have any kids that may have played with your phone? I know when mine get a hold of my phone things seem to move around.

I believe that "starred" does not refer to starred messages - but, contacts that you starred.

It's sort of like a speed dial list. You go thru your contacts and "star" them. Then you long press on home / add folder / select "starred contacts" -- I don't know if that's what you did -- but, that's what "starred" is.

If you didn't intentionally do this or not... it's actually a pretty nifty little way to get often-used contacts in one central place. If you have several hundred contacts and want to just see a few at a time, it's pretty handy.

by the way, to expound on someone else's comment regarding putting an icon in the "trash"....

longpress the icon til the "trashcan" appears at the bottom (the little tab that usually pulls out the "drawer" converts to a trash can) then drag the icon you are pressing to the trash can and wait til the icon and the trashcan are BOTH red. then release.

The icon or app is NOT gone forever. It's just in the main drawer. Folders and widgets WILL be truly thrown away and need to be re-added to home screen by longpressing and then "adding"

could have happened in your pocket too. Especially if you're running 2.1 since if the phone slides open it unlocks (at least the build i'm using).
