Extract data from device with broken screen

My Samsung S4 fell and now the screen is completely dark. Is there a way to retrieve all the contact information and text messages stored on the phone so that it can be transferred to another android phone?

You will need to have USB debugging enabled and already recognized by your computer. If you don't, then there's no way to extract the information aside from having the screen fixed. You can try connecting it to a computer and using Kies to see if that'll read the device; however, I'm not sure whether or not that will work.
