I just got one of these today (Amazon.com: Eye-Fi Connect X2 4 GB Class 6 SDHC Wireless Flash Memory Card EYE-FI-4CN: Computers & Accessories) and it's perfect with the N7 if you take photographs at all. One of my initial hesitations about the tablet was not being able to just slip the SD card out of my camera, put it in the tablet, and share photographs. I'm not a photographer, but am involved in lots of organizations and people really do like seeing pictures of themselves and their friends doing things. And then they come up to me 2 weeks later and ask me to email the photos and I end up going through all my cards looking for the photo they want. This card sets up a mini wi-fi network and instantly sends photos to the tablet as they're taken. Then they can be emailed, facebooked, put in the drop box, etc. And looking at photos (and videos) on the N7 screen is so much better than passing a camera around. The card can be programmed to delete photos once they're sent so I'll never run out of room either, even with only 4 GB. The only limitations on the small card is it won't transmit RAW files and doesn't geotag. But it's under $40 and works very, very well. :D

I get similar function from an adapter for my DSLR

Though I haven't really had a chance to use it, it sounds like we'll get some similar use out of it. I looked at the Eye-fi cards, but needed more size. I'm not a full time professional photographer, but do occasionally get photography jobs, and when I do I have to have a lot of space for RAW+JPG shooting, and I'm looking forward to being able to check out the photos on my N7.
