I flew from Seattle to Buffalo on Friday and kept mine off on both flights. I will do the same on my return today. The Alaska Airlines flight attendants made an announcement about not powering on or charging a Note 7 but the American Airlines flight attendants did not.

I turn phones off anyway on planes since use my iPad Pro. 5.7" is too tiny for reading to me beyond about 15 minutes.

Okay, I can see how this is relevant with the "old" Note 7. But let's get real....how will anyone know you've powered on your "old" Note 7?

Well, here in the American Airlines boarding area the agent made an announcement about the Note 7. The policy must be known to all airlines now.

I think give it like 2 or 3 months and the FAA will change the rule.

That should be enough time for the recalled ones to be gone and the new ones in.

I wonder if SS would consider bricking the remaining N7s with an over the air update to force people to turn them in. Hmmmmm

In the future they might, if they can. It's the only way to have absolute confidence that the device isn't under recall.

Yea, I'm thinking it has to be an option on the table. They'd have to be willing to take those phones back directly to protect the people who did not know about the recall that picked them up 2nd hand. If they're not going to stamp the back under the glass I don't see any other option. Everyone will not turn in the defective phones.

Wonder if they do that to cars that have serious recall issues. Not let you register them until you can prove that the repairs have been done.
