Face Unlock Peformance

I am really surprised at the face unlock on this phone. Last night about an hour before I went to bed, I placed it on my old Nokia Qi charger. After watching the Ken Burns Vietnam documentary, I went to bed. My LED was flashing so I was going to pick it up and check the notifications. Now the room was dark and when I bent over it to look, it unlocked. Amazed, I tried it again and it unlocked a second time. I tried again with my glasses off and it stayed locked. Anyway, I did not expect it to work in the dark and it sort of blew my mind.

it has some sort of infrared sensors that make it capable of unlocking the phone even in the dark.

I use the iris scanner and it works perfectly as well. I'm very happy with the Note 8. tucked away in its alcantara case.

yes the face unlock does work in the dark . an so does the iris scanner. an no a picture will not unlock your face id

How do you like the Alcantara case? Does it catch a lot of dirt? I ordered mine from Samsung and its not shipped yet. I have Whitestone Dome screen protector on. Have you tried the case with a screen protector?

Like Anthony, Iris Scanner here as well - that's what I used on both of my Note 7s so I figured why change! Super fast and reliable!

That's what I figured so I just went with fingerprint scan and face unlock with PIN back up. Both work very well, I find. Generally prefer the fingerprint scan to open.
