Encryption is a setting you can turn on in ics. If you don't know what it is, than you haven't turned it on. Head over to settings->security->Device administrators->look and see if outlook or email is listed (or maybe the name of your employer)->tap it. It'll tell you what permissions it has.-> Check for something about lockscreen. If there is something there about lockscreen, It means your employer's network admin has disabled your insecure lockscreen so that your email isn't readable by anyone who finds your tablet. To get your lockscreen choice back, you can deactivate the account's admin rights (which will cause it to be uninstalled, I think) and than remove it. To get around that, you can set a bookmark for the login page on your homescreen and set the page to remember your login by default. That way, you can read your email, but since it's stored in the broweser, it doesn't get admin rights on your tablet. You might be able to get around this as well with a third party mail app, I don't know. If you need to have the account in the email app, you can talk to your network admin and see if he can disable the permissions, he may have them enabled without realizing.
Hope this helps!
