Facebook apl on Lenovo A10 tablet

This is the most relevant category I could find. I'm just in the process of setting up my mother in laws new Lenovo A10 tablet. It has android 4.4.2. I've installed the Facebook app but it's refusing to play ball. I'm getting a network error. Now as a network manager, one would think that I could sort this but it has me baffled. I have numerous other devices in my house, none of which have any trouble at all. Here's a screenshot of the error message I get when launching the Facebook app.
Any help / advice would be great fully received
