Facebook App - Contacts Sync

I came from the Gnex which required the use of Haxsync to get your Facebook contacts to your phone. But I noticed that Facebook is in the Sync section and it has the option to sync Contacts. I'm wondering if anyone here has that checked/is using that and can verify what it really does. I'm still using Haxsync but am wondering if that is actually necessary now on the Moto X.

It won't sync. You need the program.
