Facebook icon on notification bar

I keep getting a Facebook icon on my notification bar that is different from the normal notification icon. When I pull down the menu it says that my session has expired and I need to sign in. I am not signed out, however, so I'm worried that this is some sort of virus.

I did a search and looked at a lot of it, but there were so many threads that I gave up. Anybody know what it is and if it's bad news? I keep forgetting to get a screen shot, but it's just a little blue square with an "f" in it.

I doubt it's malware. If you're really concerned, try force stopping Facebook by going to Settings/Apps/Facebook, and tapping Force Stop. Then start it up again. You could also try signing out of your current Facebook session, then sign in again, and see if that notification goes away.

Tap and hold on the notification and then tap "App info". That'll let you see whether or not it's from FB.

That would be Android's option to turn off notifications from Facebook (and you'll see the same thing for every app). Facebook also has this option in it's own settings. If you don't tell FB to not notify you, it will continue to notify you. If you tell it not to do so, it won't.

Thanks for the responses. So why does my Facebook app keep telling me my session has expired and I need to log in again? The app is working just fine.

Yes I did, and it has not yet come back. I was just trying to understand what the app might be doing. Thanks again.

I've never seen that message, and don't see anything in settings that might cause it.
