Facebook Sync

I'm a pilot so I'm constantly traveling and my phone is constantly on and off. Sometimes when I get somewhere and turn my phone on, I lose all of my Facebook synced contacts. Like, if I have a favorite that's linked to FB, their picture will either disappear or their Twitter picture will replace it, but all of the FB stuff is gone. I have gone into the accounts and sync screen and seen for FB "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." What I don't understand is, how does it know that and why am I losing my contacts? This happens when I turn only my phone radio on, data and wifi are both off. So as far as I'm concerned my phone is randomly dumping the FB information when it wants to, not because it actually synced and the service was down. Sometimes it happens like two or three times a week, then it won't happen for a month. Does anyone have any ideas? Other than don't sync the contacts?

Also, there are a couple contacts that I try to sync to their FB profiles, but it just ignores my attempt to do that, any ideas on that one?

Not to mention the fact that the whole +1 issue with people that have FB phone numbers listed is annoying. The phone wants to use that FB supplied phone number as a default over the one I have entered into the contact. Like if it's the same exact number, my phone automatically wants to put a +1 in front of it for people that list their number on FB. It seems to me that the FB app or sync has far too great of control over things on the phone. It should just save the big stuff once and only update status type things afterwards or profile pics if it has changed. Not dominate the entire phone. I sincerely hope that HTC, or Google, or whatever gets resolved in the future to keep the FB stuff from basically infecting the phone and taking it over in a lot of ridiculous ways.

Anyone seeing that stuff or have solutions???

Have you thought about just using the GMAIL contacts?. All my contacts on there....with there facebook link also.

I have my Facebook contacts linked and it only changes pictures if the person changes there PROFILE picture. You can HARD link a picture if you want. Just have to edit the contact information and then pick the contact picture that is already there and then follow the screen. If you unlink them in your contacts, then you can just have their contact info.

If you go into "PEOPLE" APP and load up someone that is on Facebook, you should see a "chain" icon in the upper right corner, click that and then follow the screen.

Yep. I have 100% of what you said. It just likes to act ridiculous. Another thing it does once in a great while is if I have a text message thread with someone, instead of showing their contact name, it decides to show their phone number instead, making it very confusing. I love this phone, but the contacts are not as stable as they should be. Especially considering that since it's a phone, phone things should be pretty tight.
