factory mode?

Last night I restarted my Samsung galaxy note 2 and it did not turn back on. It displayed a black screen with a large gray battery in the middle of the screen with one of those "loading" circles in the middle. I figured it meant that the battery was dead so I charged it until it displayed a green battery with 100% underneath. It still would not turn back on. Now there is a green android bot on the black screen that says "downloading... do not turn off target" and it says factory mode in the top left. It has not changed in hours. I just want it to turn back on but the guy at Verizon was clueless. Is this factory mode going to erase all of my contacts? How do I get it back on to regular functioning? Thanks!!!

Can you get it to power up by just pressing the power button? From your description it sounds like the phone went into Download Mode.

Download Mode is typically accessed by pressing the Power, Home, and Volume Down keys together and at the same time - and when the phone is off.

If your contacts are set to synch with your Google account then they should be OK. You could check your account online to confirm.

It does sound like you went into download mode. Have you tried just taking out the battery and putting it back in and then powering it back on. Try this and see if this works.
