If I was wanting to do a factory reset how would I go about backing up my info. All my contacts are on Google. My apps save through the play store right? So its just a matter or reinstalling them. But how do I save my play store music? Just want to make sure I'm covering everything. Any help would be appreciated.

I did a factory reset with the help of verizon tech support because of the gmail app was flashing and crashing the first day I received my razr maxx. I believe we set up Backup Assistance + Contacts and then ran the sync function to back up the data (home > settings. . .) Then we did the factory reset.

It took about 35 minutes for the data to be pulled back into my phone AND for 4g to return. In fact, the verizon tech thought my razr maxx was a lemon and arranged for me to pick up a new razor maxx at the local verizon store. But after 35 minutes my 4g came back and my data was restored as purchased and free apps begin to re-download automatically.

It may be helpful to call a verizon tech for help.

---------- after master reset, re-log into the phone with your gmail account like you did on day 1 when you got the RAZR. Google with sync all contact data that was ever saved to the Google Account.... or if you did the Verizon Backup Assistance method, re-sync that... or if you downloaded a contact backup app via Playstore (formaly Market), then redownload that same app and re-sync... walla! :-)

----------- yeppers... but just the apps... not the app data/settings... sorry. You could get App2SD, move the app and settings to SD card. This works on most apps. But not all. System Apps and Downloaded app thats use system data cannot be moved. Therefore you SD card cant save those settings. So get App2SD and move apps to SD card..... Anyways, next... When you re-log into the phone, Market should re-install all your downlaoded apps... if not, then just open Market, hit menu, go to MyApps, slide over to History, and walla... redownload your apps from the list....

So its just a matter or reinstalling them.
----------- yes

But how do I save my play store music?
----------- Music, whether it was synced or downloaded onto the phone, should be saved to your SD Card by default. Master resets do not touch the SD card. Just the intern memory is wiped. Not the external (sd card).. when doing a master reset, you WILL have the option to wipe SD card.. just make sure that option is not checked.

Just want to make sure I'm covering everything. Any help would be appreciated.
--------- contacts, apps, music.... oh, pics and videos... both of those are auto saved to SD card too. So no worries... You only worry is the app settings pretty much.. you will just have to go to each app one by one and redo your personal settings on them

Thanks androidcore tons of good info. I never could find where my play store music was on the SD card. I previously ran into this because my play store music didn't show up in the stock music app.

no problem.. anytime... oh... and i forgot to mention, Playstore Music, when bought, will be on your playstore account history tab like your apps are... just hit music instead of apps.. LOL........Like Amazon, Google will remember you purchased the musics, ebooks, movies, apps, etc.... so they will auto-download again after master reset and re-login to phone with gmail account. It SHOULD autodownload like TundraDome said. It takes time for all that. 35 minutes to an hour is very true. If not, just go to your history and download automatically... ON SD CARD, they should be saved in MUSIC folder. Again, SD card isnt touched by master reset UNLESS you check the box GREEN when doing the master reset. :-)
