Gmail automatically backs up your contacts. After a reset the first thing it asks for is your gmail info. You sign on and all your contacts gets synced to device

Go to Accounts in settings and look at the last time it synced your contacts just to be sure.

The OP is on a Nexus so their contacts will be synced to a google account.

Doesn't hurt to double check. I bounced from a Nexus to an Amaze recently (now on a GNote LTE) and I somehow lost some contacts. Totally my fault but I should have double checked before making the switch. Also, I was using a 3rd party dialer/contact app and Talkatone and I'm not real sure if that affected it.
