Factory restore, same problem

I had a problem with an error constantly popping up "unfortunately, .... has stopped" with a number of different apps.I was able to make it to app settings in the brief seconds between the error messages and clear the cache of google services app. The errors stopped until I tried to return to the home screen, I'd kept getting "unfortunately sense home has stopped". So managed to factory reset the phone and Im still getting similar errors.

Now I cant complete the phone setup process, keep getting "unfortunately google play has stopped".

Any help would be great!

I ran into some similar problems you discussed, it was solved by blocking HTC home and HTC service pack from updating in Google play. Uninstall those apps from Google play and this will take you to factory versions. Then stop Google play from automatically updating those apps
