Factory SMS app freezes.

Out of nowhere my factory messaging app will freeze up and not respond. I have not done anything different with the phone so nothing has changed. I have tired restarting the app, phone and did a cache wipe. Still nothing. Any ideas what it may be?

I prefer not to DL another messaging app but not totally against it. Didn't like SMS pro.

Did you do a cache wipe in recovery, or through settings?

I have used Textra. Not bad for a third party app.

Why didn't you wipe the cache and data for the Messaging app (in Settings -> Applications manager)?
If you are concerned with being able to save all of your message history you could use Kies first to back it up.

Message history is also in the phone contacts list. Deleting them from the message app does not erase them.
