Well I'm buying the unlocked version for the sole purpose of using it on all four carriers. I'll ask over at XDA whether I can push any update myself such as the OS update.

If that's your main use, the Verizon version comes out of the box unlocked and you can be used on any carrier (on Sprint I'm not sure)

Well I want it for sprint too. Although I haven't tested it much on my s7 edge unlocked on sprint. I need to though.

You should be hardware wise all the S8+ carrier versions are the same model (SM-G955U) with different firmwares. But yeah probably do some research if it indeed can be used on any carrier.
