Faded dsplay in charging cradle

I have been using my Atrix in a charging cradle for almost two years. This weekend it suddenly goes very dark after placing it in the cradle and I can just barely see the clock. I have both a charging cradle and a multimedia dock. It does it in both. I have not changed any settings that I am aware of though there were updates to apps this weekend.
Any ideas out there?

I found my problem! When the screen fades it is very hard to see in daylight and I did not notice the 3 buttons on the left side of the screen. The bottom button of the 3 buttons fades the screen to a night time, darker setting. Touch the button and it goes back to full brightness.
