This has been happening since I got the Note9. I've never had issues with this before with the Note8 or the S9+. I know the other two guys in the message have iPhones, could this be the problem? If so why didn't I have this issue in the past? I only get the red Failed! message when I send text, if I sent pictures it goes through no problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am having this same problem. It just started this week. Group text was somehow switched to chat mode and I could no longer reply.(said message failed) I thought I would try to leave chat and start a new thread...bad idea! I cannot start a new message with those same people it tell me group chat it's closed! Others can still send messages I just can't. Looking for help please.

Yes it only started for me within the last few weeks also! I've had this phone since a few weeks after launch with no issue on the same chat thread, but now randomly it doesn't work. I wonder if its the Samsung Messages app?

My wife had this issue with her S8 last week, but she used the Verizon Message+ app. She would send our 2 kids (both iphones) a group text, but they would not get it. However, if they turned off WiFi on their iPhones, the message would come through. I cycled the cellular data on and off on the iPhones and messages came through.

This is randomly happening for me as well. I use the Samsung messages app. Some group texts are working fine, and others are failing... even if they previously worked recently. It's happening for both iPhone and Android users. No pattern I can discern on which texts will fail and which won't.

OK, I found some relief. I cleared cache and data for the messaging app and then restored my backed up text messages (which included the failed texts and threads). All group texts are now working again. Interestingly, when I sent new messages on the failed threads, I got a notice (in the thread itself) that I had become the "group leader" and the others on the thread had "joined" (see screenshot). I wonder what that's all about.

If this "fix" eventually fails, I'll post again... with more whining the next time.

I use Textra. Text > 1000 SMS per week. Absolutely no problems.

Thanks, JimmieCD. I've used Textra, Android Messages, and Pulse... same issue. It has to be something w/ the carrier (T-Mobile) and thread. It's not happening consistently either, but once a thread fails, it continues to fail. I have to start a new group text w/ the same people, but their replies go back to the old failed thread... annoying.

At any rate, I think the problem is now fixed for me (see my last post). I'll post again if not.

I've been having the same issue for about a week. I text my daughters frequently in a group text. about a week ago when I was replying to the group text my messages are failing. I have to start a new group text with them for them to go through. I'm wondering if this has something to do with a software update? I have a Samsung Galaxy s9 Clearing Cache did nothing. I haven't cleared app data because I'm not sure how to restore. I would appreciate any help.

My wife has a Note 8 and I have the Note 9 and we both have randomly had the happen. I have toggled wifi off at times to get it to work. We just started having this problem recently. We are on TMobile. Anyone having this problem with any other carriers?
