Failing Profile and PRL update

Is this a know issue? I have tried just about everything short of replacement.

Normally I'd tell you to have your MSL handy and do a ##768# to clear NVRAM which should fix the issue but because this is a pure google experience, we don't have the Sprint programming menu's. Not sure they thought that part through entirely because if the NVRAM becomes corrupted, which would prevent you from updating profile and PRL, there would be no recourse except for returning the phone

Well let's ask some basic question i guess and see where it goes:
1) Is your phone unlocked?
2) If yes: Stock or CWM recovery?
3) If CWM: Stock or custom ROM?
4) At the risk of losing your data, have you tried Menu > Settings > Privacy > Factory Data Reset
- Note: I'm pretty sure this only clears cache and data but in lue of programming menu's, maybe it also clears NVRAM?

I'm just spit balling here.

No, this is a pure stock device, I have tried multiple resets. I also called and did a MSID reprogram, and also tried data restore using my MSL.

Also the menu I used was *#*#72786#*#*.

I just don't want to replace this one because if there is nothing wrong with it.

Well if you have tried all that and you keep having -> Failing Profile and PRL update, then I would say you have a problem that AFAIK is not a widely reported issue.

I believe exchanging your phone at this point is the most reasonable option.

my prl updates have been failing too.. Although I am rooted on a stock rom.

Are you guys in poor signal area when trying? If yes, do you know a location with reliable signal where you can try again?

Also just to be safe make sure the wifi radio is off and you don't cover the proximity sensor when trying. One more thought, you don't have anything on the phone controlling radios like juice defender do you?

Mine are failing too, just got the phone yesterday. I get about 1-2 bars of 3g. Love everything else about this phone though!

Too many people in different areas with different configurations for this not to be a network issue IMHO

Have you tried doing it in a different location? Could be the tower.

I tried both on and off my Airave even drove to my Sprint tower, even drove to a another town. I did get it to update after I exchanged it.

The only issue so far is I so no signal at home while connected to the airave then in went to roaming, I just pulled the battery and restarted the airave and Nexus and seems to be solid again.

My question is why your updating the profile and PRL? They don't have updates... You did this same stuff on the Evo when it released. Just leave things alone and enjoy the phone. Man....

I constantly see failures of both of these across multiple devices. It's Sprint and the tower, not the device.

I updated it because it was NOT making calls, read the posts I made sprint told me to do it that's why. But I guess static and not being able to make or receive calls is normal to you.

You wrote similar things back when the EVO launched. The only thing that would even "maybe" help would be updating the profile. The PRL is completely useless in this. Still if your having issues that serious, your looking at faulty hardware if a battery pull doesn't fix the issue.

I had signal fluctuating issues on my evolution, but I could make and receive calls. And the profile was what I was trying to update. I stopped at both a corporate store and best buy and they said it would have to be replaced.

They all say that just to get rid of the problem. 95% of them don't know a thing.. They are just sales reps. They want to get you on your way as quick as possible. I know this because I was in that business for 4yrs.

That maybe but but a corporate repair center should know something. Well anyways I couldn't make calls before and now I can that's all I care.

I have read the entire thread. Has anyone figured out how to solve this? I am on my 3rd phone with the same issues. Update profile, PRL and activation failing. I kept the 3rd phone unrooted and locked for a couple days to see if I could do updates in my area. They worked fine. I was hesitant to unlock and root it for fear that it would start to do the same thing. Well I went ahead and did it and sure enough, the updates no longer work. The always fail.

I unlocked, installed CWM 3.1.0.1, installed stock rooted rom Gjr22deoxed from XDA. then from that point, no more updates. I downloaded all new files just in case I had a corrupt file from previous installs.

I have not called sprint yet to get a new MEID and see if that solves the issue.

I do have bad reception in my home but the stock phone (before unlocking) updates were completing just fine.

If someone knows the solution, please let me know.

I exchanged mine and it has worked fine since, though I only tried it twice once in the store and once at home and both times worked fine. If yours worked up till you unlocked it then its probably something with that. I'm not that savvy in rooting so maybe somebody else could help.
