fake call notification

My 8 month old samsung galaxy is showing has a 1 on the phone icon...... Its as if its a notification of a missed or received call, but if you go to the call register there is nothing. So now its constantly showing this 1 on the phone icon. I have tried clearing the call log history numerous times but the icon just wont go. How can i clear it?

Try going into application manager and clearing cache for the phone app.

Settings -> Application manager -> All -> scroll down until you find BadgeProvider and select it, then choose "Clear data". Then choose "Force stop" and reboot the phone.
