Family share data including tablets?

We asked at the Verizon store yesterday if you can put tablets on the upcoming family data plans and they said no, phones only. This is a disappointment because between my $30 data plan and our $20 tablet plan we'd be well on our way to whatever they decide to charge for the shared data plans.

Has anyone heard anything like this?

Go to the app store and download FOXFI on your phone. It's free internet. I connect my ipad and laptop regularly. I canceled hot spot I was paying $30 monthly. Foxfi works like a charm everytime!

^^and this is why we have tiered data now.

They haven't announced the details of the plans, so there's no telling what is covered yet.

I'm new to the forums. So, I'm going to be nice :) I'm not the one to blame tiered plans. Free apps for wi-fi has been around since the blackberry was a new hot smart phone (many years ago). I finally gave in and dropped my hot spot after reading an article on Android Central about foxfi. Blame this wonderful site, but don't be blaming me.

I wasn't blaming you. You're not the only one that uses these free tethering apps. But because people abuse it, the carriers saw fit to eliminate this problem by giving a data allowance. So no, I wasn't blaming just you.

I can't use the mobile data on my phone and my tablet at the same time, so I don't feel like it's stealing when I tether my tablet to my phone. If I didn't have a free app that allowed tethering, I would just pull the 4g sim card out of my Bionic and stick it in my Xoom, which works perfectly too!
