Fascinate or Incredible

This is my 1st post!
It is time for an upgrade. Coming from the Droid 1 and debating on whether to buy the Fascinate or the Incredible. Thoughts?

Well if you are going to be getting the new phone soon check out best buy. They have the incredible for free and the facinate for $50.
I got the fascinate at Best Buy for $50. Even though the Incredible is free, I'm glad I went with the fascinate. The screen is amazing!! It sucks that some stores (like Best Buy) only have dummy/display model phones out so people can't actually see how amazing the screen looks. I did most of my research on this site and YouTube reviews since most of the stores don't have working phones you can test out.

Thanks Daffy DC! I am on an employee account (sister works for VZW)... have to pay what everyone else pays for the phone through VZW but monthly service is 50% off... good trade off!
Just went through this same exercise about a month ago...went from my rooted D1 to Fascinate. My wife has had her DInc for @ 8 months so I have spent quite a bit of time with it. DInc was not really part of the equation for me because the poor battery life was a real showstopper for me. The X and the Fascinate were my final 2.
Between DInc and SF, here is my take.
+ Fascinate:
-SAMOLED screen is more vivid and better in bright light where the DInc is nearly useless
-Gorilla glass (otherwise to me both phones' build quality is inferior to what we are used to with moto)
-camera is better
-battery life is significantly better
-built in SWYPE which I love
+ DInc
-cheaper
-Sense UI > Touchwiz (in my opinion)
-Froyo
-less bloatware
-unrooted, the GPS may work better out of the box (on my 1st fascinate GPS worked fine, 2nd one getting a lock is a bit slow)
For me, the choice would be easy...the Samsung wins in all the areas that you are stuck with (hardware, battery life, etc) 9 months from now.
However, you and I have the benefit of going into the fascinate with both eyes open to one very real concern...updates. Samsung/Verizon have been abyssmal thus far in this regard. I chose to roll the dice with Samsung anyway because I am comfortable rooting my phone. Also, in my experience, all the manufacturers sucked at getting updates out quickly when they first got in the android game, but they eventually got it figured out. If Samsung wants to be a long term player in this space, they need to figure it out too pronto. You should think hard about whether this would bother you...for some folks, I get the sense that the lack of updates has completely ruined what has otherwise been a fanastic phone. It is a legit concern, and I don't blame people for being outraged.

My 2 cents... Fascinate has a wonderful screen. But that is all I give it over the Incredible. My wife and I were going to get the Dinc, but when we showed up at the store it was sold out. 
We went with the Fascinate instead since it was brand new and had a BOGO offer. We both now wish we would have waited. Samsung has disappointed us with their lack of support to fix some of the bugs these phones had out of the box. Bugs the phones never should have shipped with!

in all honesty, I really didn't go with a Dinc since it had been out for so long (since last April) and I wanted the latest and greatest. Coupled with how sweet the Fascinate's screen looked, I ended up with the fascinate. I love my fascinate, but I feel that HTC seems to support their phone a whole lot more than Samsung and there's a lot more dev love with the incredible than with the fascinate. So I'm thinking in the future that I'll probably go with HTC since they seem to do much better at supporting their devices
if you can wait, I'd wait until after CES to see what they are planning on releasing and when. sounds like HTC should be coming out with a sweet new phone with LTE
Go to the store , play with them. in the end it all opinion, i wouldnt move from Fascinate and i have played with Moto's HTC LG, and samsung.. and im firm on my stance. So if im firm on my stance and other people say its no good. then it all comes down to opinion. Yours is the only one that counts,, go hold the phones. touch the screens, play a game or two.
I agree with you DroidXcon... It will ultimately come down to trying the phones in the store and seeing what you like. Or if you wait a couple of weeks til after CES you might see some all new phones coming soon that blow the doors off the current offerings. Im not personally happy with my Fascinate for reasons stated here and elsewhere. But your experience may be different and I hope it its no matter what phone you choose. Happy shopping and good luck!

If you are looking between the Dinc and SF i wouldn't even think twice about it. the dinc while nice and having a lot of new roms for it and other things after being rooted just doesn't compare for me. It doesn't feel right in the hand, almost feels too small after playing with a SF for a while. The SF is really nice, the screen absolutely crushes every other phone out there right now and it works great with out rooting. However, once rooted the phone is AMAZING.
I would go with the SF and just sit back and enjoy!

Thanks everyone for all the input! I have been playing with them in the stores and such and last night got the Fascinate. The DINC just felt too small. The SF is a perfect size. Flash is not that big of a deal so not having Froyo was not a make or break for me. So far very happy, even got a screen shot of my home screen posted already. Thanks again everyone!

Thanks! I have never rooted. Trying to get educated on that and get up the nerve to take the leap!
That is the smartest approach...read, re-read, make backups, and then re-read one more time. Every issue I encountered during rooting could have been avoided by reading the instructions more carefully.
