fast charging/charge not holding Note8

I have note8 with the original battery. I don't always get the lighning bolt when charging and sometimes it will say fast charging and sometimes not.

It doesn't seem to be holding the charge as long (yes, i know i probably need a new phone or battery.) This happened rather rsuddenly though.

The fast charging issue i think is from debris in theport maybe

So is there anythng else to do until i replace the phone?I always keep it charging when not in use. A while ago a neighbor (computer expert) let the battery run down much lower and after he did that, it started holding the charge better and longer. Could that still help. He also said the bettery was fine. It wasn't tha tlong ago but now the battery says 10 hours time. that's ok with me as i don't use the note8 as a phone .just the browser. ideas to prolong life? thx

Try using compressed air to clean the port out and are you using the stock charger and cable something equivalent from a name brand ?
If you store your device try keeping it between 55 to 80 percent and turn it off , not sure what the battery capacity is at but might be low since it's original but try these trucks see what happens

Haven't done the compressed air yet but I think the particular socket of the outlet it was in wasn't holding well. I bought the charger in 2023 and it worked fine. I think it's pretty equivalent. (could post info here. It's UL certified and hasn't malfunctioned.)

I think when a game was being played it ran down faster. Not being a game player, that didn't occur to me. Will that contribute? given the socket and game, I thimk they created the problem plus junk in the port which I'll try to remediate.

I also turned ont the power saver, on moderate and that gives me 12 hours battery life. Do you recommend use of the power saver or not really? It added two hours. 10 without it. I almost always have the phone charging when not in use. I'd appreciate your feedback

Do you think 10 to 12 hours of battery with a phone from 2017 and original battery is pretty decent?
