Fast charging on/off

I notice that there's a setting for fast charging on or off. I've accidentally turned it off and thought my phone was broken.

When would one ever intentionally have it turned off?

I don't know haha. But I guess it's to avoid issues with other chargers. The switch does change a few values in the electronics, so that might throw off some chargers and/or data cables. Haven't had issues on mine, though.
