Lollipop now blocks my data enabler widget from working so now I have to dig about 3 steps in settings to turn data on or off. There has to be an easier way.

I use Nova Launcher installed but the pull down menu features everything but a data control toggle.

I don't know if this is what you are looking for, but I use an app called HD widgets. It has a variety of different widget for different things including turning on/off data

I had a widget to do turn data on and off but when I tried to use it after lollipop I got a message that the "operating system blocks third party apps from adjusting data".

Does your data on/off widget work with Lollipop on an unrooted phone?

I'm still on kitkat. My carrier is taking their sweet time upgrading to lollipop so I can't really tell you how lollipop plays with HD widgets. Sorry. Maybe someone else has experience with it on lollipop or some other solution.

My question was data toggle widgets don't work with Lollipop, so what is an easy way to turn data off without settings diving.

I would suggest you figure out how to block Lollipop while you have the chance. It offers no benefits.

Anyone know how to turn data on and off quickly?

After lollipop I haven't found a one step way to toggle data. As you said the usual apps don't work anymore and they just open the data settings. I've tried Power Toggles and some more and even creating a shortcut with Nova Activities. No luck so far. I've read that even Tasker or Llama can't do that anymore.

So, as far as I know, you have to go through the data settings to switch it on and off. Sorry, not much help :)
