Faulty waterproofing?

Hey all,
My friend and I both have the z3v and his was just badly damaged in the shower, filled up like a sponge. I though, take mine in the water everyday no issues. His ports were all properly sealed. Is this possibly defective? I have also read before that the IP ratings are more so for submersion than spraying water. Any thoughts out there or other people with same issue. Maybe bad batch of phones?

It's definitely faulty if it was just in the shower. The phones, however, are not waterPROOF, they're waterRESISTANT. IP ratings do include water spray and water immersion. He should definitely send it in to get a Warranty replacement.

That's what I thought, just wasn't to sure because I haven't heard of many other people having problems like this. Just has me a little paranoid now with mine lol. But surprisingly verizon took it back in store and swapped it out

Maybe he dropped it and didn't notice that something cracked open. Or it was just a faulty phone (those happen).
