Favorites widget not working as expected

So I figured this part was going to be super easy, but its starting to look like what has always been easy on every other phone I've had will now be hard on the one phone that makes everything else easy. Here's what I'm dealing with:

On the favorites widget (or speed dial on my previous phones) I have My wife's cell setup as one speed dial and my house phone number (also listed under my wife's contact info) as another speed dial. So when I started to add favorites to my favorites widget I picked my wife's cell first then went back to add the home and she is not listed in the list to add again! It skips right over her name. PLEASE tell me this isn't what is supposed to happen?

Second problem - when I started adding additional favorites they kept adding to the "front" of the list/line instead of adding after what has already been added (I'm used to reading left to right, top to bottom - its adding new ones on the left top and pushing previously added ones right and down the list). I guess I have to add them in BACKWARDS? Also, there doesn't seem to be any way to rearrange the ones there. Is this the least thought out widget in all of Android or what??

I'm hoping some of you guys with some Android experience are going to be able to help me right the ship here. Otherwise, everything has been great!

It's the same on my Hero too. I just don't use it, but create shortcuts to people instead.

The favorites widget automatically sorts the contacts that you add alphabetically by first name. I don't think that there's a way to change this. Once you do add a contact to the favorites widget, you can't add it again. Each contact has a setting for what the widget action does. This is set when you first add a contact to the favorites list using the plus sign on the widget. You can edit the widget action in the contact by hitting menu, more, set widget action. Depending on what action you set here, you'll see a little icon in the picture indicating what the action is.

You have a couple of options here:

Set your widget action to view contact which will bring up your wife's contact and then you'll be able to pick which number to call.

Add a second contact with your home number and add it as a favorite.

Ha! I didn't think of that. I only added three before I moved on because it wasn't working like I wanted it to. They just happen to be added in perfect reverse alphabetical order Otherwise I think I would have caught on to the alphabetical order thing...

Maybe I'll just use shortcuts...

There actually is a speed dial function go to edit the contact, long holds on the phone number and it should give you Tthe option to add it to speed dial.
