Feature like imessage?

A friend has a s5 on verizon and has a feature what looks like imessage? it shows when someone reads the text and i think when they are responding even. does ours come with that feature or what?

I believe that's verizon messages+.
I used it for a while, but the lack of privacy was too much for me. It shows your incoming messages in the notification bar and you can't turn it off. Also when you're sending an mms, it shows you all of the pics you have received from your other messages.

That is not a good thing if you get *nice* pics from people and have someone nearby who can see your screen.
