File browser Where are the folders?

Just switching from blackberry to Android (Dinc2).

So, how do I peruse through my folders?

On my girlfriend's Fascinate, there is an icon that looks like a stack of folders. Tapping that brings up a very intuitive folder browsing experience.... and from there I can email a file/folder or send it up to dropbox, or create a new folder

Is there a simple file browser for the Dinc2? (I have 2.3.3.... 2.1 sense)

Thanks
Kelton

You will need to go to the Android Market and download a File Manager App. Astro File manager and IO file manager are two good ones. Another one I use once in a while is ES File manager.

Another good one is Root Explorer. Even if your phone isn't rooted, it still works well for all the standard folders you can browse. Try some of these and see what you like the most.

Gosh... with all the crapware, there is no native folder browser?

I'm assuming that there must be some sort of built-in (but strangely not an obvious way) to look around on one's SD card!

Thanks, though, I installed Astro File and it does the job nicely.

In one way, I see what you mean by looking for a native file browser. On the other hand, I think you'll find that one of the beauties of Android is that the developer community is HUGE, and things that you might consider lacking in terms of native apps are actually better by third party developers, because of the system's freedom in open source. Glad you found one you like! :-)

Depends on the ROM. Samsung, as you mentioned, includes a rather nice file manager, HTC on the other hand, dosen't include ANY type of general file manager at all. I would find that annoying if I hadn't already purchased and use Root Explorer.

I would agree that all ROMs should include a basic file manager. On the other hand, the market is full of free and/or cheap options.
